This was one of a number of games held in celebration of the silver jubilee of King George VI. The England XI was made up of amateurs and professionals whilst the Anglo-Scots XI was made up of Scottish players who were currently playing in England.
The Scots won 1-0 thanks to a late goal by Manchester United's George Mutch.
A crowd of 8,994 helped swell the coffers of King George's Trust Fund by £698.
