Brian Marwood joined Arsenal towards the end of the 1987-88 season from Sheffield Wednesday. He started the following season, in which Arsenal won the league title, with a bang. He scored two goals in the opening game of the Wembley International Tournament against Tottenham, and then scored in the first six games once the league season started.
